The Situation Cried out for Bipartisanship!

In last night's debate McCain made the following amazingly true and profound comment:

"The situation today cries out for bipartisanship."

The only problem is that it was immediately followed by an attack on Obama:

"I have a clear record of bipartisanship. The situation today cries out for bipartisanship. Sen. Obama has never taken on his leaders of his party on a single issue. And we need to reform."

John McCain knows how desperately this Country needs to come together to handle this economic crisis. In fact, he suspended his campaign to go to Washington to bring people together to address the crisis. How can this country act in a bipartisan manner if one Presidential Candidate is accusing the other of "palling around with terrorists" and "not seeing America the way you and I do?"

These are divisive comments and they hurt the cause that this Country now finds itself in. "Country First" became meaningless so long ago due to McCain's consistent failure to honor it. John McCain has an opportunity to re-inject some meaning into that slogan by following his own call for bipartisanship and I hope he does so.

Thank you for pointing out that history has the tendency to repeat itself, hopefully this will not be the case and we will learn from mistakes in the past and elect a qualified candidate. Thanks gopo!
